7 Month D/A

Brenton had a 7 month appointment today, mostly just to get the second part of his flu shot. He did really well with it, was only mad at us for holding his hands down.. the shot didn't bother him at all :) The Nurse just loves him.. she told him today that he cracks her up. He lifts his head up like he's doing crunches, but also lifts his legs up so he can see his feet and everything else. His abs are so tight, haha! She teased and said he has his own exercise routine. Silly boy!

Doctor said that he needs to slow down on eating though. He's eating 30oz of formula along with solids 3 times a day. He wants his formula intake to be around 22-24oz. So, we're just going to eliminate a feeding, and go down on the oz at one feeding from 6oz to 4oz. He said for sure.. NO feedings in the night. Which is why we up'd his intake of formula.. so we'll see.

He is now 21lbs 13oz (90%), and get ready for the height.. 31 INCHES (off the charts STILL!)! He's so dang tall, lol.

Just an update :)

My Big Boy!

Brenton is 6 1/2 months now and he has many talents lately, so I think I'll update!

He can sit up by himself now pretty well, but now he's learned that leaning forward, means tummy time lol. He actually doesn't mind being on his stomach.. we have come a long way for that. He'll lean forward and try to grab EVERYTHING he sees.. his favorite is the laptop, lol. Even in his high chair now, he leans so far I swear he's going to fall out. I may have to start strapping him down, lol. So, when he leans forward, he lands on his tummy and then laughs and turns on his back.

He knows how to reach for people now as well. When I go to greet him in the morning, he reaches his arms out for me to pick him up, and he did it with MIL today too. Like I said.. he is grabbing everything in sight.

Anyway, just an update :)

6 Month D/A

We had Brenton's 6 month appointment today and he is 20lbs 7oz (90%), 29.5in long (off the charts still!), and his head circumference was 44cm (50%). He got 3 shots today, including the 1st set of flu shots (have to go back next month to get the second does), and the oral Rotavirus. He has always loved that one.. but the Nurse was laughing today because he was sucking on the tube and just loved the heck out of it. She thinks he is just so adorable.. which he is ;)

I asked the Pedi about Brenton not really wanting to be on his tummy and roll over, but can do it if he wants, and he said it's completely fine since he's so big and that he's developmentally on track.. so he's not worried and I shouldn't be. We are going to delay his MMR vaccine at 12 months, Pedi doesn't want to delay it too long but a few months is okay.

I think that's pretty much all.. have a good day!

5 Months!

Brenton is 5 months old and doing great! He loves to eat, and is learning how to sit up pretty well. He can sit up by himself for a few minutes at a time, then gets excited and falls back.. it is so cute :) He stopped sleeping through the night at 4 months, but we've decided to let him CIO, and now he sleeps 11-11.5 hours a night. He didn't barely even cry the first night, and then after that night, he was completely fine. I was so scared to leave him alone to cry (I thought it would be a lot worse than it was) because I didn't want him to feel abandoned and feel like Mama and Dada didn't love him anymore! :( But we do!.. with everything we have! He's our world.. and we wouldn't change him for anything! I cried along with him though the first night. After 5 minutes I wanted to go up, and I looked at Devin and said 'PLEASE!' and he reassured me that he was fine and this is what he needed to be a better sleeper and not be so cranky anymore. I do have to admit that he was right. Brenton sleeps all night, and is so cheerful in the morning and just is so excited to see us. He rarely cries during the day anymore, and when he does, it's usually a fuss for the 'I'm hungry' deal. He's getting such a personality.. it's fun to play with him now. Even though he sleeps all night long, he still takes 2-3 hour naps 2-3 times a day! I couldn't be more lucky.. seriously..

He truly is a different baby everyday, and is getting better as he gets older. He's not that colicky, reflux baby we brought home when he was a newborn. A baby that cried all the time because he was in such pain with his gas. A baby who never slept, never ate without 'flipping out' at his bottle.. and everything else he used to be. He has come a long way, and so have we. We will continue to grow with each other, even with the ups and downs!

Check up..

Brenton had a 2 week check up since starting the new medication. He is now 18lbs 9oz, and 28 1/4in long. That's crazy from his usual 3lbs a month he used to gain. Oh well, he's starting to even out more. :)

Brenton has been doing so much better with the medication. He's currently taking Reglan 4 times a day and Zantac 2 times a day. Since he is doing so well, the Pedi didn't see a need in raising his dosage.

Just wanted to update..

Another update..

We went back to the Pedi today to discuss a couple of things I've been wondering about. Brenton refuses his bottle still at 4 months. The Pedi said that 'maybe he's ready to be weened from the bottle', but that just doesn't seem right at all. So I asked another Pedi and looked it up online and came up with the idea that he may suffer from 'silent reflux'.

I took in the list of symptoms (which he has every single one of) to his Pedi today and he's decided that we could either thicken his formula with cereal or try medication. I went for the medication since we've already did the rice cereal which I don't want to do anymore.

Hopefully this will solve his problems with his darn bottle!

4 Month D/A

Brenton had his 4 month appointment today and he is growing so fast! He is now 18lbs 1oz (90%), 28in long (way above the charts), and head circumference is 43cm (around 50%). He handled his shots like a pro and barely cried - if you could really call what he did crying.

Anyway, he's a healthy, perfect baby boy! :)

A little update..

Brenton has started rolling over now, mostly because I've decided he needs to start doing tummy time. He was on his back today and decided to roll back to front, which he's never had an interest in, yay! He also giggles all the time now. I put his toes up to his mouth and he just laughs his head off.. I'll have to get it on video soon. :)

We've had so much rain the past two days because of hurricane Ike. The lake is equal with the dock now.. which is like 5-6in above it's normal level. It's not letting up any either.

We have his 4 month appt tomorrow though so I'll update more later.

It's been long..

Just thought I'd give a little update!

Brenton is 3 1/2 months old, and it's going by so fast. I weighed him the other day on our home scale and it says he is up to 19lbs already, 4lbs up from his appointment on the 8th of last month. He seriously doesn't stop growing. He is so tall too.. I love it :) He is now wearing 6-9 month clothing and some 12 month clothing. All of his cute little outfits that we had bought he barely got to wear, if he did at all. :(

He has learned to do the little 'raspberries' more and he does it all the time now and laughs at himself. He just loves his Bumbo. We have fed him (so far) sweet peas and prunes. He loves them both! I'm going to start sweet potatoes tomorrow, so hopefully he'll like those also! We have decided to go organic with him. Soy milk, and only organic baby food. I've decided it is for the best for him. :) We have also changed our parenting style to 'attachment parenting.' Brenton is classified as a 'high need baby,' and I cannot just let him cry, so I've decided he needs comfort and now that I have accepted it, I have became a LOT more patient with him.

Devin is working up the wazoo lately. Chaching! ;) I miss him a lot though.. I hate when he has to work like this.. floods take so long to clean up!

I have started working out more and running! It felt great to go running/walking today. I don't need to lose weight, just a couple inches here and there. :)

Anyway, it's almost time to put the wee one to sleep!

3 Month D/A

Brenton had his 3 month appointment today, and everything checks out great. He's growing fast and beautiful. :P

He is now 15lbs 9oz (90%), 25 3/4in long (90%) and his head circumference is 41cm (50%). He is eating 7oz every 2-3 hours so the Pedi said to start giving him some rice in his bottles to hold this growing weed over a bit. :P

He got his Hep B shot today and cried for only a second. He was such a good boy! :)

2 Month D/A

So, we called today to get a new Pedi closer to home for Brenton, and they decided to get him in right today! All in all, I like the Pedi, and his Nurse is very nice.

Anyway, he is now 12lbs 6oz (8lbs 5oz at birth), he's 25in long (22.5 at birth), and his head circumference is 39in! He's so darn big! He got his shots today (besides the Hep B, we saved that for next month), and he cried while getting them, but he was fine when we put him back in his car seat. Poor baby! He loved the oral Rotavirus, lol. The Nurse said most babies don't mind it, but she's never seen a baby who loves it like Brenton did. He will eat anything you put in his mouth, I swear!

The other Pedi we had said to put Brenton on soy formula, and if that didn't work give him the Nutramigen. The soy didn't work, so Nutramigen is was. We've been buying that for a couple weeks now at 25 dollars a can, and this Pedi said he doesn't want him on that formula. He switched him to Enfamil Gentlease. He was going to put him on Similac, but he didn't have any samples, and plus I don't want him on that. So, we'll see how he does on this. No matter what, he was fussy with gas.

Update..

Well, Brenton has been a definite hassle these past few weeks. We've discovered he has colic and everything has been so hectic around here.

We went on vacation to the Wisconsin Dells and it was beautiful. Also took a road trip down to Kansas (business trip also) and I loved riding in the car.. it's so beautiful and I love the scenery through Iowa. If only we could go back now..!

We've been trying different formula's for Brenton to help with his gas and colic but still have no luck. I'm thinking we're heading to Nutramigen. I hope we get his little tummy situated soon! I don't think neither of us can handle it any more! Poor baby. =(

I'm tired though..

4 weeks old..

Brenton is 4 weeks old today. Wow, I seriously can't believe it's already been that long! He has rolled over a few times already (on accident, I'm sure), and is drooling like crazy. He is "tummy scooting." It's insane how fast he's growing too. I know that he's gotten taller, and by my scale here at home, he weighs over 10lbs now!

I must admit, seeing all my friends have their babies lately really makes me want to go back and enjoy giving birth again. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. Devin says "no more children for 5 years," but I can't wait that long. No way..! :P

Okay, enough blabbering about my little one! :)

Birth Story!

Brenton Lowell Chambers was born on May 14th, at 10:30pm. He weighed 8lbs 5oz, and was 22.5 inches long! I was in active labor for about 4-5 hours, and then pushed for only 1 hour. I'd say that's pretty good considering how big he was! :)

I'm still trying to adjust to being a Mother, and it's hard but I think I'm doing the best that I can, or at least I hope so. I'm so glad to have Devin. He's been absolutely wonderful with getting up at night and getting him back to sleep after I change/feed him. He loves to sleep on Daddy's chest. :)

Just wanted to post this for my friends that I didn't get to speak too since I was obviously unprepared when I went into labor 2 weeks early. :P

Drama..

Well, we've only been at Grandma's for not even 3 weeks and we're moving out. My older brother who is 21 years old still lives there with her and causes nothing but stress for everyone. I can't be around that, and I don't want to be. So we're leaving to Devin's parents' house and we are definitely happy about that. We will have our own room and everything. I can finally get all ready for Brenton to arrive in a stress-free home! We will be leaving tonight, thank God.

Ugh.. I wish my family would just grow up.

It's finally done..!

Yay! The baby shower is finally over with. Now I can actually start buying things that I know for sure I need. I'm starting to feel like I'm accomplishing something now :)

Well, here's how things went.

Woke up around 9:30am, took a shower, went to McD's for breakfast (yum), picked up the balloons, went to the place to decorate, came home & got ready, blah blah blah. I invited about 30 people, I believe. I think between 20 & 30 showed up. A lot of them did tell me they had gotten called into work, which whatever I was fine with not having everyone show up. I hate being the center of attention, which my Grandma made sure I was. The party started a little after 4. We played games, then ate, then gifts. We had such good food. Ham, scalloped potatoes, beans, corn, green beans, salad, and buns. I made out good for gifts, I think. I always planned on buying everything myself, so I was surprised.

Gifts: Rain Forest Pack N Play, Bouncer, Swing, Car Mirror, and Blanket.
A lot of other soft blankets, 3 packs of diapers (140 newborn), baby wipes, baby wipe travel case, a lot of cute outfits, 3 onsies, and some other nice cute things. I can't remember everything, but I will post pictures that I took of everything soon :)

32 Week U/S

Went for my 32 week ultrasound today. The tech was very nice, and so we got some really great pictures. I'm still measuring 4 days ahead, like I've always been, but it's okay. She said my cervix is still shut tight, looks fine, nothing wrong there. My fluid levels are great, which I was kind of surprised because I haven't been drinking things I should be drinking; whoops! He is 4lbs 10oz, so he's getting nice and big. His heart rate is 135bpm, which is all good too. It was so cute watching him drink his fluid and play with his lips. When she first started the exam she showed us his bladder, then towards the end to get more pictures, she scans over his bladder again and it was a lot fuller and she said "I don't know who's going to pee first, you or him." It was pretty funny :) The tech showed us his hands which were right up by his nose, so we called him a nose picker! I was nervous, as I always am when it comes to ultrasounds and doctor appointments. I'm always worried their going to find something wrong, but each time they tell me he's just perfect :) Maybe I should stop worrying so much, lol.

Anyway, I'll post some pictures that we got

Moving out..

Well, it's the end of the month and our lease is ending so we've decided to go stay with my Grandma for a little while to help her get caught up on some bills and look around for a new place.

My baby shower is April 13th, and I'm excited. I can't wait to see everyone, but then again I am nervous. I do not like to be the center of attention; at all.

Anyway, I'm done for now.

Yah..

Well, today was alright. I actually got to see my brothers baby today, well, I babysat her for a few hours. I don't know what people mean when they say she cries for two hours straight. My brother was flipping out last night because of her crying so much. He tried everything and she still wouldn't sleep. Then she gets here and I'm thinking "Thank God she's asleep." I didn't want her to wake up and be a fussy butt, but she woke up smiling at Devin and me. She was just a happy baby, like she usually is for me. She didn't cry once in the 4 hours I had her. Maybe she just likes me so much and doesn't want to cry for me =) Haha, yah right. I don't know what people do to her, but she's probably the easiest 2 month old I've ever watched.

Devin and I went out to Olive Garden tonight, thanks to Beth saying she was going. She got my cravings flared up, haha. It was yummy, since I haven't had it in a while because of the morning sickness that lasted for 4 1/2 months. We came home and took a nice bath together also, which wasn't as nice as I thought it'd be. I think it's just because we're both tired, but we didn't really conversate at dinner or in the bathtub. I know he's tired, and I'm always tired, so I'm not going to really take this whole "not talking today" thing too seriously.

It's so cute. I'm sitting sideways typing away and Brenton is all balled up on my right side of my stomach. I can't wait until he's here. =)

Anyways, I guess that's all I have to write today.

30 Week D/A

So, I had my 30 week appointment today. Everything was perfectly fine, as I knew it would be. Baby's heart rate was perfect (as the Doctor put it), my blood pressure was 122/80, so that's perfect as well. I weigh 176, so that's a totaly of 46 pounds gained so far this pregnancy. I'm not really worried about it unless the doctor says something, which he hasn't. Found out my blood type, which is A+. I've been meaning to get blood work done so I could always know, but always forgot, lol. I also get another ultrasound. I was excited when the Nurse came in and asked me about scheduling another one. This appointment with the Doctor was probably the only thing that's going good for me at this point.

In other news, my Grandma needed more money today because a check bounced. I feel bad for her, because she's so depressed. Seeing her depressed and crying, makes me depressed and want to cry. Seems like this is just an awful year to get ahead with all the money issues. She's not going to have car insurance now, because she couldn't pay the amount they wanted from her. I offered to give her more money, but she wouldn't take it.

I don't feel like typing anymore. I guess I'll just go take a bath and try to relax. All this stress isn't good for the baby or me..

Finally..

I finally decided that I needed to get my GD test done today, after waiting almost 2 weeks. I expected the stuff to be thicker, but it was really just like soda. I will say that I won't be able to drink orange soda again after drinking that. Tasted like old orange soda that had been sitting out for 3 days. I couldn't have the lemon-lime though, because I figured it would irritate my already irritated throat.

I have no idea what's going on with my throat. It just started hurting out of no where a couple of days ago. I'm guessing it's from my sinuses, so I went out and bought some
Benadryl to try and help. It's supposed to help me sleep, but we'll see how that goes.

I'm officially 30 weeks tomorrow! How exciting! I also have my 30 week doctor's appointment on Wednesday. I'll be getting my blood work, GD test, and pap results all back; I hope. I'm sure nothing is wrong with either one of them though.

I've also been looking at getting a 3d/4d ultrasound done, because the doctor that I see isn't the doctor that has the machine, and God only knows if I'll be able to squeeze in, so I'll have to go on my own if I want it. It's so expensive around here in Detroit. The lowest I've seen so far is 200 dollars for 5 pictures and only 15 minutes of viewing. I thought it'd be a little cheaper than that.

Oh well, that's my post for the day.

Sunday, March 16, 2008

I can't believe it..

I'll be 30 weeks along on Tuesday. You never notice how much time passes you by until you look back. I never even thought I would make it past the first couple of months because of the issues I was having then with the pregnancy. This baby wasn't planned, but it's sure not a mistake! We were so worried at first, and we both didn't know if we could handle this because we're so young but that quickly changed. I've always wanted to get married and have children at a younger age than a lot of people would have liked, but this is my life and I've never really saw the reason to wait until I'm 25+ years old.

My 30 week doctor's appointment is on Wednesday. Tomorrow I'm going to get my GD test done also, which I've been putting off. I should find out the test results of my blood work, GD test, and my Pap. I'm hoping everything comes back fine, which I'm sure it will. If not, I'll have to deal with it, no matter the situation.

My baby shower is coming up in less than a month and I put the invites in the mail today. I'm so excited, because it's going to be bigger than I expected. My Grandma is hosting it, and even though she's sick she still insist on going all out on it. She's a great Grandma, and Mother. =)
